Set up HotLabel on a Chromebook (ChromeOS)

ChromeOS does not allow third-party drivers to be installed. HotLabel printers are compatible with the Zebra LP2844 printer language, so you can add the printer with a Zebra-compatible .ppd file instead. This works for every HotLabel model.

Step 1 — Download the printer description file

Step 2 — Add the printer

1. Plug the printer into your Chromebook by USB and switch it on.
2. A "USB printer detected" notification appears at the bottom right — click Set up. Alternatively open Settings → Advanced → Print and scan → Printers and click Set up next to the printer.
3. When asked for the printer's PPD, click Browse and select the .ppd file you downloaded.
4. Save.

Step 3 — Print a test label

Download the sample 4 × 6 label (PDF)

Open it and print with paper size 4 × 6 in selected.

Step 4 — Set your platform to 4 × 6

Most platforms (eBay, Etsy, PayPal, Amazon, Poshmark, PirateShip…) default to 8.5 × 11 in "normal printer" labels. Change the label size to 4 × 6 in once — see the platform guides.
